The Bamboo Dojo is a Martial Arts school and training gym. We teach several types of Martial Arts including Karate, Kobudo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Iaido. All classes are taught by qualified instructors.

Martial Arts classes provide training in self-defense and an opportunity for social interaction in a structured environment with other students of various ages. All students are provided with positive reinforcement for continued diligent study through the successful achievement of progressive "kyu" ranks and the award of diplomas at each level.

The Bamboo Dojo holds membership in Yoshukai Karate International, Sanuces Ryu Jujutsu, Toyama Ryu Batto-Do, and Ryu Kyu Kobudo.

Some of the many benefits to be gained from the study of Martial Arts are:

  • Increased self-confidence

At the Bamboo Dojo, we believe true confidence is built through discipline, perseverance, and respect—core principles of traditional martial arts. Through dedicated training, students push past their limits, refining technique and mastering both body and mind. As they earn each rank through hard work, they develop self-trust and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Martial arts teach that true strength comes not from dominance, but from self-control and inner balance. Here at the dojo, we guide our students to cultivate confidence that extends beyond the mat, shaping them into strong, respectful, and resilient individuals.

  • Improved self-discipline

We teach that discipline is the foundation of true martial arts mastery. In the traditional way, discipline is not just about following rules but about committing to consistent practice, respecting the dojo, and pushing oneself to improve each day. Through repetition of techniques, adherence to etiquette, and the perseverance to overcome challenges, students develop a strong work ethic and a focused mind. This discipline extends beyond training, shaping character, responsibility, and self-control in all aspects of life. True martial artists do not seek the easy path—they earn their progress through dedication and effort.

  • Higher levels of physical fitness

True martial arts training strengthens the body as well as the mind. Traditional practice demands full-body engagement—building endurance, flexibility, strength, and coordination through disciplined movement. Each strike, throw, and stance is designed to develop balance, agility, and controlled power. Unlike modern workouts, martial arts condition the body with purpose, forging a warrior’s physique through hard work and repetition. Over time, students gain not only physical fitness but also the stamina and resilience to push beyond their limits. Strength in martial arts is not just about muscle—it is about mastery of one’s own body.
